Job Description

Reporting to the Threading Manager as part of an interdependent team, the Threading Labourer/Inspector is responsible for thread inspection, deburring of threads as required, supporting a 24/7 production schedule. The Threading Labourer/Inspector is a key member of the facility’s Production Team and will undertake activities associated with the continuous improvement and ensure continuous flow of product through the department.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Operate all equipment required to perform necessary job functions;
  • Daily shift start up inspections on equipment and follow up on preventive maintenance reports;
  • Participate and communicate with all personnel throughout the facility;
  • Work with production schedules and understand the product flow through operations to maintain production flow;
  • Comply with all PPE requirements;
  • Inspect equipment to detect defects;
  • Assist in the cleaning of machinery;
  • Maintain housekeeping and equipment; 
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives;
  • Adhere to and comply with all applicable company policies and procedures;
  • Inspect finished product using API thread gauges (micrometers, go/no go gauges, etc.);
  • Grind threads with die grinder (as required per thread design; typically completed by Threading Labourer/Bucker);
  • Maintain computerized inspection records and hand written reports;
  • Apply appropriate striping and stamping to pipe using hand rollers, manual stamp and hammer (as required per thread design; may be completed by Threading Labourer/Bucker).

 

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Conferring with supervisors and operators in order to report equipment malfunctions and resolve production problems;
  • Completion of pre use inspection of equipment to detect defects and wear;
  • Compliance to Environmental Health and safety standards and engagement with EHS program and duties as assigned;
  • Safe Operations of equipment, lifting devices, industrial vehicles including but not limited to: forklift,;
  • Provide coaching and expertise to other members by sharing expertise and working as a team to meet common business objectives;
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities to drive efficiency and cost savings;
  • Participate in meetings and committees to communicate information and serve as a liaison with other departments and managers;
  • Provide documented report on incoming inspections for quality as required
  • Other duties as assigned for which he/she has received required training, possesses qualifications and/or is considered competent.

Educational and Experience Requirements for this position:

  • Minimum of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma;
  • Proven written/verbal communication ability;
  • A minimum of 5 years related work experience operating sophisticated equipment and machinery in an industrial setting;
  • Basic technical aptitude including but not limited to: computers, math, assembly and general manufacturing principles;
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours/shifts;
  • Demonstrated capability to work with gauges and measurement devices;
  • Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide;
  • Working knowledge of tools, materials, methods and practices used in the threading department;
  • Satisfactory criminal reference check in accordance with the company’s policy.

  • Working knowledge of SCADA part tracking;

  • Excellent communication skills, including both verbal and written skills with the ability to give and receive feedback;
  • Excellent organizational skills, i.e. time management, ability to prioritize, etc.;
  • Willingness to be actively involved in problem-solving activities following effective and proven methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis;
  • Willingness to embrace new challenges.
