About the Employer: Since 2018, The Pie Guys Bakery & Café has specialized in offering hand-made baked goods, focusing on using ingredients that are locally sourced. We offer a large selection of pies that are made from scratch, hand rolled and hand assembly each day. Along with the pies, we offer a robust range of sweets and treats, as well as a full-service lunch menu in our café. This spring, we will be relocating our Port Colborne location to a brand-new space, twice the size!
About this Position: As the Head Baker, your role is to execute the day-to-day baking needs of the business with the highest quality and standards, provide suggestions and insights into new product offerings, and help to oversee the flow of the BOH.
Responsibilities:
- Work as part of a team to prepare baked goods in a timely manner focusing on quality, presentation and attention to detail
- Pie, cake and other sweets decorating
- Monitoring inventory in conjunction with the implementation of production schedules
- Prepare recipes including measuring and mixing ingredients, moulding and forming dough, according to company-set standards
- Propose and develop new recipes
- Maintain inventory standards focusing on first-in, first-out and minimizing waste
- Adhere to all food handling and health & safety guidelines
- Communicate with other kitchen team members to ensure smooth flow
- Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen and back of house through daily and weekly cleaning tasks including dishwashing when needed
To Be Successful in this Role:
- You have a passion for baking and are punctilious in your work
- You love working in a fast-paced kitchen environment ensuring quality vs quantity
- You are organized, work well as a team player and offer effective leadership skills
- Prior baking, including cake/cupcake/cookie, experience is required (2+ years)
- You have superior hygiene standards
