Flu Clinic at EarlyOn Port Colborne

December 7– Family Flu Clinic at the Port Cares EarlyON Centre!

Even healthy children can become seriously ill with the flu. Younger children have a higher risk of serious illness and even death from flu. This is partly because their immune systems are still developing. Children under five are at especially high risk. (Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.) In Niagara, respiratory infections including the flu are one of the highest reasons children seek medical attention.

A recent study supported by Public Health Ontario found that young children who are fully vaccinated against influenza saw their risk of hospitalization due to influenza infection drop by 60% (Buchan et al, 2017). Family and friends can protect the children they love by getting their flu vaccine too. In this way, they are less likely to come down with the flu and pass it on to the children around them.

Bring your family to our Flu Clinic on Friday, Dec. 7 at the Port Cares EarlyON Centre!

Clinic will run from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

The influenza (flu) vaccine will be offered by injection or nasal spray (which is as effective as injection).
