Golf Course Mechanic

Port Colborne Country Club – Port Colborne, Ontario

Port Colborne Country Club is an 18-hole championship golf course established in 1929, located in Port Colborne, Ontario, just minutes from the shores of Lake Erie. The club is entering an exciting new era, with progressive ownership and management focused on elevating playing conditions and the overall member experience.

We are currently in the process of renovating the entire golf course, making this a rare opportunity to be part of a full-scale transformation from the ground up.

Position Summary

The Golf Course Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overall performance of the golf course equipment fleet. This role is critical to ensuring our grounds team has safe, dependable equipment to deliver outstanding course conditions for our members and guests during this exciting period of growth. Opportunities to assist with on-course work and operate equipment may also be available.

Key Responsibilities

    •    Inspect, diagnose, and repair small engines, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components

    •    Perform preventative maintenance on mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, and other turf equipment

    •    Establish and execute a preventative maintenance schedule

    •    Maintain accurate service records and equipment logs

    •    Ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently

    •    Manage parts inventory and coordinate ordering as needed

    •    Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance facility

    •    Assist in supporting equipment needs related to course renovation and construction projects

    •    Work on the golf course and operate equipment as needed

Qualifications

    •    Experience repairing small engines and turf equipment preferred

    •    Mechanical certification or equivalent hands-on experience considered an asset

    •    Golf course experience is an asset but not required

    •    Experience working with cutting reels is an asset but not required

    •    Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills

    •    Ability to work independently and manage priorities

    •    Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality workmanship

    •    Valid driver’s license required
