Membership Development Officer

The South Niagara Chambers of Commerce is looking for a Membership Development Officer for our 4 locations. Our vibe is fun, friendly and above all we want to grow membership by continuously providing value added programming and services. Our goal is to regularly engage and communicate with members. We are looking for someone who is passionate about providing outstanding customer service.

Position Overview

  • 33 hours per week
  • Monday through Thursday 9am to 4:30 pm; Friday 9am to noon (some before and after hour events)
  • Valid drivers license and access to vehicle
  • Hourly rate plus commission
    • Hourly rate of $20 per hour
    • 20% commission of the pre-tax, pre-administration membership fee on sales each month; A monthly minimum goal of 10 new sales must be achieved
    • 10% will be paid on all other products sold as assigned by the Executive Director
    • A monthly car allowance of $100 will be paid
    • In addition, you will be provided with 2 weeks paid vacation; You will also be paid during the holiday day shut down from December 25th to January 2nd
    • Commission will be paid on a monthly basis and will be dependent upon receipt of a detailed invoice

Personal Skills/Attributes Required for the Position:

  • Successful completion of a post-secondary program
  • Previous experience in a sales role
  • Thrives in target driven settings; goal oriented
  • Pleasant and professional manner
  • Computer knowledge and proficiency, particularly in Word, Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to network with staff and community members
  • Communication and persuasion skills
  • Competent to work well under pressure and within deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and possess good problem solving/creativity skills
  • Teamwork attitude and approach to duties
  • Flexible and able to adapt quickly to change

The Candidate Must Possess:

  • A valid drivers licence and have access to own vehicle
  • Automobile insurance of at least one million dollars

Job Description:

  • Act as the point person for membership inquiries
  • Source and contact potential new members
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to increase revenues
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses
  • Uphold a strong understanding of all programs and services
  • Promotion and sales of business services offered through the organization
  • Responsible for the sale of other products and services as assigned by the Executive Director
  • Responsible for any administrative duties related to their work
