Events Coordinator

The South Niagara Chambers of Commerce is looking for an events coordinator for our 4 locations. Our vibe is fun, friendly and above all we want our members to enjoy interactive and engaging events. We take pride in creating meaningful events with special attention to detail. We are looking for someone who is passionate about events and providing outstanding customer service!

Position Overview

  • 33 hours per week – In Office
  • Monday through Thursday 9am to 4:30 pm; Friday 9am to noon –  1/2 hour paid lunch Monday through Thursday; (some before and after hour events)
  • Valid drivers license and access to vehicle
  • $21 to $23 per hour
  • 2 weeks vacation, plus paid holiday day shut down from December 25th to January 2nd

Personal Skills/Attributes Required for the Position:

  • Successful completion of a post-secondary program
  • Previous experience in event coordination
  • Pleasant and professional manner
  • Computer knowledge and proficiency particularly in Word, Excel and virtual platforms such as Zoom, Eventbrite
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to interact with staff and community members
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and possess good problem solving/creativity skills
  • Teamwork attitude and approach to duties
  • Flexible and able to adapt quickly to change
  • Organized and detail oriented

The Candidate Must Possess:

  • A valid driver’s license and have access to his/her own vehicle
  • Automobile insurance of at least one million dollars

Job Description:

  • Assume tasks as the point person for all events (includes virtual and in person events)
  • Organize networking and celebratory events such as Business After 5’s, Golf Tournaments, Awards Celebrations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, sponsors and members
  • Develop event specific sponsorship packages
  • Organize sponsorship development initiatives
  • Prepare correspondence regarding events such as speaker and facility confirmation letters, thank you letters, reminders, invitations, etc
  • Work closely with other staff members to ensure a seamless experience
  • Work collaboratively with the Membership Development Officer to create event sales strategies for the purpose of increasing organizational revenue
  • Assist with social media content and marketing needs
