JOB POSTING – Food Service Cook – Food Services

The Food Service Cook will ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the foodservice division. Efficient operations will be supported by quickly preparing and delivering quality food for guest orders, maintaining clean areas, and a safe environment. This position will provide an excellent guest experience to all Safari Niagara patrons. Must be outgoing and enjoy interacting with the public.

Duties:

  • Follows recipe specifications to ensure quality in each service
  • Possess basic food knowledge for a smooth transition into the role
  • Prepares food for Safari Niagara’s staff and customers, according to specification, promptly to efficiently serve consumers
  • Maintains a high level of food safety at all times to ensure safety and maintenance of regulations
  • Maintains health and safety of their designated food service location
  • Execute daily opening, closing, and cleaning duties to ensure smooth transitions and organization
  • Ensure proper rotation of all food using the FIFO system, including labelling and dating to follow the regulation of food service duties
  • Assist in preparation of food for all corporate gatherings and events in an efficient manner, with emphasis on quality and safety
  • Keep up-to-date with food locations and offerings for cross-training at different Food locations in the park
  • Awareness of park locations, offerings, and activities to answer any guest questions
  • Accepts any added responsibilities that may be asked throughout employment at Safari Niagara to support other departments

Requirements:

  • Preference is given to individuals with prior guest service experience, including cashier experience, retail experience, and other interactions with the general public
  • Preference is given to those with cooking experience and/or enrollment in a culinary program
  • Possess basic food knowledge for a smooth transition into the role
  • Outgoing and personable as to foster relationships with the Food Services employees
  • Health and Safety competencies to ensure proper execution of roles
  • Accountability and integrity
  • Able to prioritize duties for seamless execution
  • Ability to strategize to get duties done, given traffic and weather concerns or changes
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, especially in hot kitchen areas
  • Adhere to safety precautions while executing duties, to avoid injury in the kitchen
  • First Aid, CPR-C, Safe Food Handling, Smart Serve and Workplace Health and Safety certification are considered an asset
