Community Support Services of Niagara Region
Position Title: Congregate Dining and Volunteer Visiting Service Coordinator

Part time Position – up to 25 hours per week
Location: Welland, Ontario

Community Support Services of Niagara is a not-for- profit volunteer based agency providing home support programs to seniors and adults with disabilities in the Niagara Region.

Reporting to: Program Manager

Primary requirement: The coordination of the Francophone CD and Bilingual Volunteer Visiting programs within the Welland service area Travel will be required throughout the Niagara Region

Service Coordination Responsibilities:

  • Organizes and participates in various social and therapeutic recreational activities to: increase socialization, promote independence, improve quality of life
  • Completes intakes for all services and supports provided
  • Maintains and enhances ongoing social activities
  • Makes payment for purchased services such as food or events and maintains appropriate records of payment
  • Maintains accurate recording of statistics and client interactions in database
  • Produces and distributes event flyers
  • Participates in performance and quality measurements, compiling program indicators and outcomes
  • Maintains attendance records for activities

Common Responsibilities:

  • Prepares reports as requested
  • Monitors and evaluates the volunteer and client programs and documents results
  • Maintains accurate and current volunteer and client files, corresponding database
  • Monitors service, determines client satisfaction, volunteer satisfaction and resolves any issues as well as resolves volunteer problems in a timely fashion keeping program manager / service coordinator apprised of pertinent issues
  • Attends seminars, meetings and maintains current knowledge of volunteer management activities and client service practices
  • Maintains liaison and participation in community organizations
  • Participates in CSSN promotional activities
  • Participates as a CSSN team member, promoting the agency
  • Maintains confidentiality of volunteer and client information
  • Seeks assistance from supervisor when necessary
  • Performs other duties and functions as required

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate fluently in French and English is mandatory (written and oral)
  • Educational background in social services, recreation and leisure, volunteer management or relevant post-secondary education
  • Previous experience working with volunteers, seniors and adults with disabilities
  • Proven presentation skills in both official languages
  • Experienced training and orientation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; including phone skills and interview/assessment skills
  • Superior oral and written communication skills in both official languages
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Computer skills – Microsoft office and database management
  • Able to work occasional week nights or weekends
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license, valid insurance with minimum $1 Million liability and use of automobile required
